March 23, 2019. The CASA Cook-off consists of a cooking competition, public tasting event, and live music!
About the Tasting Event
The event opens to the Public at 3:00 p.m. and Food will be ready to serve at 4:00 p.m. The following entry fee's will apply: 5yrs & under= Free, 6yrs-11yrs= $5, 12yrs & older=$10, 21yrs+ with Alcohol=$20. Attendees with Nicholls ID can enter for $5. Entry fee includes unlimited tasting of food from the Bayou's Best Chefs and Home-Cooks!! Drinks will be sold separately.
About the Competition
The teams can arrive on Saturday morning for check-in as early as 5:00am and may immediately begin cooking. All food must be ready to serve at 4:00 pm for public tasting, each team must provide a minimum of 75 servings. At 3:30pm, the teams turn in their dishes to be judged. Teams are judged in five categories: Best Grilled, Best General, Best over Pasta, Best Over Rice, and Best Dessert. Uncooked meats can be seasoned and prepared before arriving. Desserts can also be prepared before arriving. Teams must supply all items and ingredients necessary to prepare and serve their dish, including a tent. Each team is allotted a 10x10 space. All ticket sales from this event help CASA of Lafourche. 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place winners will be announced Saturday night at 5:45 pm. Judging will be based on creativity, appearance, and taste. Overall best dish and People's Choice awards will be given.
